After you have installed the mounting plate you will want to hang the light fixture so that the back plate is slid down the chain so you can access the wiring. Once the Island light is hung so that you can still access the back plate you can know hook up the wires. Put the black wire to black wire and the white wire to the white wire. Make sure to twist the bare wires together in a clockwise motion before installing the wire nuts in a clock wise motion. After you have connected the wires together neatly tuck them up into the electrical box. And slide the cover plate up the chain and install it with the decorative nut.
Once the layout of the landscape has been established, it is very important to plan the placement of your landscape lighting. Lighting can focus on aspects in your landscape which are special to you, such as garden art, a water feature, or an unusual planting. Create a point of interest by highlighting a particular tree, shrub, or architectural aspect of you landscape with a flood light placed at ground level and focused upward. Combinations of light and shadow can create dramatic effects in complete contrast to the daylight scene. Lighting around pools can create a nice mirroring effect off the water or create a tropical feel. Lighting can hide obvious landscape problems while accentuating positive features. Landscape lighting design is very similar to the design of the landscape itself.
If you are thinking of buying landscape lighting for your home, you may want to look into two of the more well known companies in the market today: Malibu and Sea Gull. For around 40 years, the Mailibu company has been manufacturing outdoor landscape lighting products. Malibu came up with low voltage lights that are famous for their warm but functional, illumination. These lights add plenty of aesthetic appeal to your patio or garden, but they are also bright enough to discourage thieves and burglars from entering into your home.
Another advantage of low voltage outdoor lighting is that smaller and compact fixtures are flexible and can be activated by timers, motion detection or switches. This is an advantage as compared with high or regular voltage lighting fixtures that require conduits and labor to fix wiring. The size and design of low voltage outdoor lighting fixtures help add to the aesthetics of surrounding. The reason they can be safely hidden or placed in nooks and corners, waterfalls, bushes or exterior of buildings and residences. The drawback is that to highlight a particular area more fixtures are needed. Quality also matters in that if inexpensive crack and corrode due to extreme temperature or corrosion. The inconvenience ends here as low voltage outdoor lighting once installed requires minimum attention. Nevertheless a perfectionist or cleanliness freak would like to coat sockets with silicon - based lubricants once a year, clean accumulating debris in up-lifting fixtures and replace dead lamps to avoid unused voltage.
