For parking lots and other outdoor areas, have emergency lighting available as backup. The design of the new lighting system should allow for the occasional outage without compromising safety, but keeping emergency equipment on hand is never a bad idea.
While all of these explanations may have some validity, there is no question that blue security lighting just plain looks different. Everyone is accustomed to seeing an area or premise lit up with traditional security flood lights. In fact it is so common that most people dont even consciously notice it. But, an area lit up with blue light causes people to take a second look. These extra eyes peering at a location makes crooks and people who dont belong in the illuminated area feel uneasy. Consequently, they are inclined to avoid the area under blue light illumination. At least thats my explanation why blue light illumination worked well for the office complex walkway.
First, you want to choose your lighting type for your project. Fountains do best with a submersible light. Submersible landscape lights are placed below the surface of the water in the basin and pointed upward toward the body of it. They can create a shimmering effect and help to illuminate the fountain itself as well as the streams of water being sprayed into the basin. A good way to add some creativity is to use color filters. Often the lights will come with these filters and they can add a vibrant modern effect to your landscape.
Fiberoptic pool lights are also available to light your pool or spa. These units have a small wall fitting (usually about 2" round), which have the fiberoptic cable attached. Most pools will require multiple light fittings to illuminate the water. The fiberoptic cable is run back to a light generating box which is placed away from the pool or spa. The light in the box sends a beam of light through the fiberoptic to the end of the strands located inside the pool or spa. One fiberoptic light box will typically operate many wall fittings, but, this will depend on the total amount of fiberoptic strands the box will operate.
