2. Batteries have to be replaced. Batteries used in solar street lights are no different from other types of batteries in that their performance declines over time. This means they cant hold a charge as well as they used to, and thus they would have to be replaced. Batteries may have to be replaced several times throughout the lifetime of the street lights, so its important to take the costs of doing this.
The next step is to remove the wire nuts from the old light fixture. You can do this by turning them in a counter clockwise direction. You will not want to reuse these when installing your new light fixture. Next remove the old mounting plate this will be attached with two screws that are attached to the electrical box. Now that you are to a clean slate you will want to make sure that you make sure that that the wires on the light fixture and the existing electrical are stripped to 3/8 of an inch. You can do this with a pair of wire strippers. Make sure to use the proper size hole to strip the wire. Next you will want to install the mount plate provided by the manufacture. Using the new mounting plate is a very crucial part of installing your new island light because this will align all the back plates and insure proper installation.
